About Dr.Steve

Dr. Steven Pappas, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Hawaii specializing in working with children, adolescents, and adults on the island of Kauai. He is dedicated to helping people identify and work through symptoms, problems, and obstacles to true health and vitality in personal and professional relationships. Dr. Steve provided clinical care and therapeutic services in the homes of Kauai families across the island while employed with Hawaii Behavioral Health.  He worked directly with officials from the Hawaii Department of Health, the Hawaii Department of Education, and the Kauai 5th District Judicial Court to make sure that his clients’ needs were met.

As an employee for the State of Hawaii’s Department of Education Dr. Steve continues to focus on conducting cognitive assessments for students in grade levels ranging from pre-kindergarten through high school.   He works with many children and adolescents who have a diagnosis of a specific learning disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties, or other medical disability.  He supports these students in getting specialized academic services to help them achieve success.  Previously, Dr. Steve held the position as school psychologist at Kapaa Middle School through the Mokihana program.   Dr. Steve received great praise from the administration, students, and families he served while working on the Kapaa Middle School campus.

Dr. Steve began his studies in psychology and psychotherapy at the University of California Santa Cruz where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and studied under some of the most prominent professors in the areas of: Developmental, Cognitive, Social, Personality, and Clinical work. He then continued his studies at the graduate level at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and received his Doctorate degree in clinical psychology.  While attending CIIS Dr. Steve provided psychotherapy to clients through the Institute on Aging, Stanford University’s Cystic Fibrosis Program, Catholic Charities, Age Song Institute, The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and the Pacific Institute.  Dr. Steve completed his post-doctoral internship in a private practice setting working with adults, couples, adolescents, and families at Union Street Health Associates in San Francisco, California.
